Pelosi was smart to get this farce out of the way before the first vote is even cast in the primary. She knew some of us would be holding our breath for an unlikely GOP hero. The truth is the same as it’s always been throughout this whole debacle: the hero you need is looking back at you from the mirror.
I know this is hard. I know you might be grieving. I have good news: it just so happens that the work you need to undertake to lift you up is the same work that has the best chance of getting us out of this mess.
Donate to candidates. Text bank. Phone bank. Canvas. Volunteer. Engage in GOTV efforts—shit, throw a lil party and write some postcards while eating nachos and drinking sangria. And for fuck’s sake, in your primaries and November, get thee and thine to the polls. It will make you feel better, and it will help us win.
What you’re not about to do is give up. Don’t give up on the one thing that actually has a real chance of getting us out of this mess. Don’t you fucking dare. Not when the 2018 blue wave just happened. Who did that? WE did that.
